Dr Johnson Beharry VC - Founder of the JBVC Foundation
Johnson spent his formative years growing up in Grenada before immigrating to London in 1999 aged 19. Johnson joined the Army in 2001 and served in Kosovo, Northern Ireland and Iraq where he twice saved his patrol from ambush, though severely wounded and was consequently awarded the Victoria Cross.

Rupert Bravery, JBVC Chairman

Rupert is currently Emergency Preparedness and Response Advisor for ExxonMobil covering Europe, Africa and Middle East. He is chair of two Global Initiative organisations, GI WACAF and OSPRI, has a BA in Economics and is a Fellow of University of Sussex.

Martin Todd, JBVC Trustee

Recently retired, Martin was awarded a Master’s degrees from Oxford and SOAS (London)and survived a 36 year career in countries spanning USA, Brazil, Chile, Belgium and the UK, with ExxonMobil for whom he was a Director of its Esso UK affiliate.

Junior Smart, SOS JBVC Project Manager

Junior set up the SOS Gangs Project at St Giles Trust in 2006, commuting from prison to work; by 2015 SOS had become London’s largest gangs’ project, helping 500 young people annually to break free from gang, gun and knife crime. Has won multiple awards including The Charity Awards 2014, Third Sector Excellence Awards 2011 and the Centre for Social Justice Awards 2010. Listed in the Evening Standard’s list of 1000 Influential Londoners in 2014.

Hugh Colville, JBVC Trustee

Hugh Colville is a Chartered surveyor. He qualified at Savills where he worked for the first 11 years of his career. In 2002 he co-founded a fund management business called evolve Fund Services Ltd.
Matthew Sapte

Matthew Sapte, JBVC Trustee Elect

Matthew Sapte is a partner in a major City Law firm. He qualified at Wilde Sapte and after spending 18 months with the firm in New York and Madrid he left the profession to join Nomura. He worked there in the London and New York offices for 5 years and re-joined private practice in 2002. He is active in his firm’s pro-bono activities at Poplaw and the Whitechapel Mission.
